Cooley Godward Kronish’s Real Estate Leasing Group is a national specialty within the Real Estate Group that represents landlords and tenants throughout the United States (including both coasts and the Caribbean) on the leasing of office, industrial, warehouse and retail space.
The Cooley team has assisted a wide range of clients in complex leasing matters, including ABN Amro, Metropolitan Life Insurance Company, Netscape Communications, DuPont and Edison Properties, Emisphere Technologies, Inc., Raven Technologies, Inc., Equastone Real Estate, among others.
Noteworthy work by the Real Estate Leasing Practice Group includes one of the largest leasing transactions in New York City history – the restructuring of a 1.5 million square foot lease to Credit Suisse First Boston (CSFB) in connection with the sale of the One Madison Avenue building to a joint venture between SL Green and CSFB. The group has also represented Netscape Communications in connection with the planning, assembly and leasing of a $500,000+ square foot office/R&D complex and Caribbean Property Group in the leasing of over eight million square feet of retail, warehouse and office space in Puerto Rico. The firm represented Manchester Financial Group in connection with a $160 million ground lease with the United States Navy, to develop a 3 million square foot, $1.3 billion development of a four block waterfront site in downtown San Diego, California.
The group also assists clients, including landlords, tenants and real estate management companies in connection with all matters arising out of the landlord-tenant relationship and building ownership.
