Christopher Hutter is a partner in the Patent Counseling & Prosecution practice group and is a member of the Litigation department. He joined the Firm in 2000 and is resident in the Reston, VA office.
Mr. Hutter's practice focuses on intellectual property, with a particular emphasis on patent counseling, procurement, licensing and litigation. His electrical practice focuses on a large number of technological fields including wireless communications, fiber optic communications, lasers, semiconductor devices, computer software and the Internet. His mechanical practice focuses on a wide variety of consumer products and medical devices.
Prior to joining the Firm, Mr. Hutter was an associate at Kenyon & Kenyon. Previously, he supported the Department of Defense as a research engineer at the IIT Research Institute (now Alion Science and Technology) developing engineering capabilities to evaluate the performance and vulnerabilities of electro-optic systems.
Mr. Hutter received a J. D., cum laude, from the Georgetown University Law Center in 1996. While at Georgetown, he was a Law Fellow for the Legal Research and Writing Program. He received a M.A. in Liberal Arts from St. John's College in Annapolis, MD in 1994. He also received a M.S. in Electrical Engineering from the Johns Hopkins University in 1992, and a B.S.E.E. from the University of Maryland College Park in 1989.
Mr. Hutter is a member of the Virginia, Maryland and District of Columbia Bars, and is registered to practice before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office. Mr. Hutter is a member of the Board of Visitors for the A. James Clark School of Engineering at the University of Maryland College Park. He is also a member of the American Intellectual Property Law Association and the Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineers.
